The ONLY thing that gets me going now… October 12, 2009

Filed under: joy, travel — modgam @ 12:35 pm

For the first time, I’m feeling so sick and tired of it. So very very sick of it that I want out! Thankfully I have one motivation to push me on. This I’m sure will carry me on… for now…

The initial choices are:

1. Taiwan or Bali

2. Taiwan and stopover HKG

3. BKK and hopefully Japan

4. Europe

5. Will reveal in time to come…

It’s finally confirmed and I was sooooo excited I couldn’t sleep!!! I’m saving really hard now… celebrating our BIG 7 and my birthday… this trip would be IT!!! D and I are thrilled!

so true

Bud was telling my baby in HKG that I bought a lot like 6 tops or so and baby went “this is little liao loh, she usually buys 20 over tops.”

The 1st thing when dear saw my loots was “Aiyoh, so little ah? Dear you really bought very little leh.”

I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *SULKS*

My loot this time is more of quality then quantity. *tries harder to console meself*

At least I bought my long-aiming Toy Watch, all my studded stuffs, my Comme Des Garcons Play Tee and my Alain Delon specs!!!

Pssssst: Oh ya, I’ve decided to take Cathay to Taiwan and stopover in HKG on my way back. Baby will be soooo happy and touched with this surprise. Shall make this a 5 days Taipei and 4 days HKG escapade. This will be enough to push me through to work till April 2010. LOL LOL LOL

back and still very much homesick August 9, 2009

My 8th and still very Homesick!!!! =S

I can’t do HKG once a year. I need MORE!!!

I like it when I said “Welcome to HKG bud” and she goes “Welcome home darling.”

It has been hard resisting the HKG Summer Sale but I did well this round. For the past yr, it has been about quality and not quantity, same goes for this round. I finally got my Toy Watch and Play tee!!! YEY… and OUCH! I had a new hair color and perm. I took baby and bud’s new hairdo and they forgotten to do the same for me!!! SULKS. hahahaha i would call this linguine perm as its wider in dark brown “sauce” with light streaks. LOL yummy… though it looks somehow the same in pics, I know its different cos I’m the one styling it. We love my new hairdo… we love ME too… hahahaha… I saw a gorgeous Balenciaga and refuse to let it go. D saw and immediately smacked my hand and ordered me to drop it! I had no choice but to drop that beauty cos its way toooooo ex for me to afford, read 5K!! Maybe I will really order my Miu Miu from Ion. =P More pictures and fun to be up in fb.

Despite having a scare that baby was down with food posioning; vomitted and diarrhoea 6-8 times!!!  It was overall a good trip cos I have baby and bud with me. I just realize I didn’t take any pics with Benson… oh well.

To think I wanted to skip this show and go shopping instead when I was in Korea. I’m so glad my tour guide insisted I watched. BEST MUSICAL I’ve ever seen!!! Laugh from start of the show, till the end. If i remembered correctly, the whole musical lasted about an hour-ish. Yes, it is THAT comical, THAT nice. Incredible display of acrobatic and martial arts skills that are so impressive, your eyes will never leave the stage. This musical received very very good response everywhere they performed. Below is a short performance I dig from youtube. Doesn’t really justify the show but it certainly brings back memories. Nothing beats catching it LIVE!

‘Breakout’ (from the producers of ’Jump’) is coming to Singapore and D and I have decided to go watch! We heard about their fantastic reviews when we were in Korea and now its finally coming to Singapore!

CONGRATULATIONS BABY BROTHER! I cannot believe my baby brother is hitched, taken, chopped. Hahaha… he looks so grown up and sauve on his big day even Christine (our tang-jie) commented time flies and he looked so adult now. Will load the wedding pics up soon. Wishing you and Iris every happiness in your lives together. =0)

Travel Bug bites me once again. Super tempted to take a plane and fly over to Tokyo and bunk over my auntie place. All I need is an air-ticket, some cash for spending and I’m covered. Economy looks bad but I’m really hoping to have a getaway. Thinking of taking 2 weeks unpaid leave in Dec 2008 (doubt my company will approve though), and take off.

I cannot imagine staying in Singapore all year round (2009). Jan 2009 Rong and I are thinking of heading to Bangkok for a mini shopping spree. Nothing is concrete yet cos we are still considering. Hopefully a super short resort spa getaway with Honeybunny, Bang and D along with Sumo Umar when he turns ONE! Rok asked me to go over and spend summer with him in June 2009. If money allows, I don’t see why not. He is checking airfares and routes to his place. Dec 2009 to Hong Kong with D. He wants to celebrate Xmas in Hong Kong. =0)

That’s about it, my new resolution for 2009; MORE travelling and MANY MORE luxury bags! Hahahaha… I was at DFS Prada outlet with Dear last week and manage to check out Prada Lace Bowler. BEAUTY i tell you! Have to place an order with Prada if you want it. It’s retailing at S$3630. DROOLS. I didn’t even want to return it to the salesperson after holding it.

Ti gong you love me right?? Please ‘bo bi’ me can??? I will be good. I will use the winnings to clear debts, donate to Temples and pamper myself and my family a little can? Can LAH…. CAN LAH… If Wednesday you don’t love me, Saturday and Sunday also can. I’m not fussy as long as you love me.

Sad to say, Ms Hermit is still here and I doubt she will ever leave me. I’m welcoming Ms Aloof with open arms. Belle says Ms Aloof is for protection purposes and I couldn’t agree more. May Ms Hermit and Ms Aloof ‘xiang qing xiang ai’ stay together. Haha

My Korean presenter is still not here to pick up CDs. Hopefully she still remembers.

Timecheck: 6.40pm

Moodcheck: relaxing, listening to Daniel Powter latest album.

Bits n Pieces.About.HKG:

- You can shop till 12am and still find food along the streets. Streets are still alive and crowded unlike here in Singapore. That’s why I call it the Land That Never Sleeps.

- Grilled Terriyaki Chicken Burger and Double Chocolate Sundae at Mac’s!!! Why don’t we have it here?

- Mushroom Rice, Curry Chicken Rice (Seasonal) at KFC. The chicken meat is NOTHING like ours! The meat is extremely soft and crispy.

- My regular hair salon at Tsim Sha Tsui. Cheap and SUPER professional.

- Xiu Liu Shan Mango Dessert are to die for!!!

- Tang Chao’s food and famous ‘Dao Huay’!!! ‘Dao Huay’ so smooth and soft, you cannot forget it after you tasted it. (Glenn, TK, Sandy agree mah? I don’t remember if Alvin and Weisiong feels the same mah)

-  one BAD point about HKG: most of their public toilets are locked! You wouldn’t know what to do if it’s your first time there. Get the toilet key from any shops in the building / shopping mall. Each tenant will have a key to the toilet. Some might not be willing to lend you for they only have one master key and fear you dont return and some might not help as you didnt purchase from them. Another way will be waiting outside the toilet door till someone from inside comes out.

- Giordano and Bossini outlets are HUGE. They even have laces on their polo tees. Soooo sporty yet girly.

- Sasha outlets are like watsons here. They are everywhere.

- Hello Kitty Cafe didnt make it in HKG. They closed down. Such a pity.

- Toilet Cafe originates from Taiwan. Im glad it came to HKG. haha food is not too bad and overly cute; toilet bowls, bath tub, urinals servings. Food is not the least gross as what is proclaimed by some.

- I was overjoyed to see Bear Museum in HKG and when I was checking the site, I realise it’s the same bear museum I went in Jeju. Maybe in future I will check out this one in HKG.

- Disneyland; A MUST GO!!! Yes, it’s smaller but do spend a whole day there as the characters walking around are very friendly and will not refuse a pic unlike the characters in Paris Disneyland. BIG disappointment. Anyhow, you MUST stay till 8pm and catch the daily fireworks. The music synchronising with the fireworks as they dance through the big clear sky. BEAUTIFUL!

I simply LOVE LOVE LOVE HKG. Though so many times, I still came home gushing about it. Wonder when I will ever get sick and tired of HKG. Bet there are still many more points about HKG that i have yet to explore.

recharged. September 10, 2008

Filed under: travel — modgam @ 5:44 pm

I am back with a recharged happy soul. Am soooooooooo proud to announce that there are no impulsive buys this time but good solid ones! I guess that’s the difference when I’ve been there so many times. I don’t have that excited urge to get everything and anything.

As much as I L-O-V-E travelling, I hated plane rides. I really wonder how I survived the 16hours ride to Paris. The biggest reward would be seeing Rok. This time onboard Cathay I watched ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’, ‘What happens in Vegas’ and last 30mins from my all time favorite ‘Sex and The City’.

Mama Chow is sooooooooo excited as it’s her first visit to the land that never sleeps. She bought sooooooooo many stuffs; clothing especially. She bought a whole new purple bling mahjong set, different flavors of mooncakes; ba gua, pork meat etc… Her luggage weighs 35.5kg!!! Luckily mine is just 15kg and D’s 12kg. It’s definitely the FIRST time our luggage weighs this light! LOL unbelievable.

Anyway, D and I are always impressed with the branded specs Hongkongers are wearing. Their specs designs are always soooo nice yet we have never really checked it out before. This time round, we intend to check it out when I spotted a pair of MIU MIU specs. It is the most beautiful M I’ve ever seen (read: Bling M, M for Miu Miu, M for Mag). The specs looked really decent on me and a little toooo decent for my liking but mummy and D insisted it’s a nice change so I settled for it. Mummy paid half for it, thanks Mummy. It’s not expensive; it’s around S$300 (the same price for my previous brown specs with no brand bought here in Singapore). D wanted a pair of shades and spotted a Prada snakeskin one. The salesman told D he can choose to make it white for normal wearing and keep the black shades if he were to change it in future. D tried and loved it and bought his for around S$450! We saw this really nice latest Sharp mobile and am soooooooo tempted to get it till it reads S$1000. *faints*

I had a haircut, perm and dye and cost only S$140! Cheap daoooooooooooooooooo… my regular hairstylist, Mango, always insisted I’m not that lady like kind but can definitely get away with the wild very curly like perm but this time she said to give it a shot since I wana keep my hair long. She suggested big curls, more lady-like but in a little bit wild kinda perm. HAHAHA… adores her.

Went to toilet café and boy oh boy, cuteness! Food isn’t the least gross as what I’ve read or seen online. Food is delicious and I will definitely revisit. I kept my promise and bought D and mummy to Tang Chao. The ‘dao huay’ is FAMOUS and as what Glen said, he wants to complain cos before he can taste the ‘dao huay’ it simply went down his throat. LOL

Mummy and I are very fast tempered (guess I do take after her) and I was still rather worried we are going to fight the entire 5 days together. So with no expectations or should I say expecting the worst, things turn out the exact opposite. Don’t get me wrong for I do love her a lot just that you know, the arguments and little fights, the mum-daughter drama thingy.

D and I had a little argument at the airport before our flight back. I was at the Disney store wanting to get the chip n dale cushion and plushies and D stopped me. He said why get so many cushions though he knows I’m a big chip n dale collector. I was so mad I didn’t wana get it when he gave in. D wanted to checkout Gucci boutique for a men tote and me for my Jolicoeur so I said let’s go there first and get the chip n dale later. D spotted a black tote and he looked good carrying it except that the handle is a little short thus the tightness is making him a little uncomfortable. I saw my Jolicoeur and was so excited till the staff told me they only have it in mini size. *sian* Then I saw it, my leroy! The charm that I was eyeing but didn’t think I will really own it. D said “Choose one lah, I buy for you. I rather get this which is more valuable than 10 chip n dale.” I was still retaliating saying chip n dale was my collection and that it’s different. It didn’t take me long to decide which dogs to get for I’ve always loved Leroy the French Bulldog. I love it so much I wana carry it everywhere I go; hooked it onto my chain as necklace, clip on my bags, clutch… EVERYWHERE! Leroy, mama is going to take you everywhere! LOL

My loots: less than 5 tops, a lot of accessories; earrings, necklaces and bangles, some magical idiot proof apply on eyeshadow (very amazing, wait till I upload the pics for you to see. All you have to do is press the colors; in 3 shades onto your eyelid for 4 mins and viola, it’s done! Beautiful shading of colors just like a pro makeup artist work), Miu Miu glasses, black pendant with Swarovski crystals, some chip n dale stuffs, Gucci Leroy Charm, mini watch diamante ring and 3 pairs of Adidas shorts. Tried the LV neverfull yet I still cannot bring myself to get it cos I’m not certain if I really want it. Saw at a store selling branded bags a Prada neverfull shape but it was closed so I didn’t manage to check it out. Will call Prada up to check. Found my dream watch but it looks nicer online so I didn’t get it. D says its toooooo expensive to get it since the strap is plastic but I think this is what makes it unique. Anyway HKG is like a yearly event thingy, I can always get it later. Hahaha

D loots: 2 pairs of Adidas shoes; one black and white and the other limited edition white with gold crown tag, 1 Timberland shoe-sandal, 3 pairs of Adidas shorts and a Prada specs. Gosh, didn’t know D bought so little. Hmmm…

i really miss… May 30, 2008

Filed under: blah, travel — modgam @ 9:15 pm

Missing Rok a lot more now that Peter, his brother, is in town. Seeing him brings back lotsa memories and makes me miss everyone, everything so much. Mama Strazar’s smell on Peter clothings, the mountains, the big red couch in the living room, Lar, Papa Strazar, the big green field, the fresh air, Crotia beach… EVERYTHING.

I will definitely love to head back there and stay there for months. I don’t mind taking unpaid leave and stay there to really rest and nuah. Doubt my company will approve it and the thought of rushing so many mths of work ahead or the work piled waiting for me to clear when I’m back SCARES ALL the thoughts away! If only I can really take unpaid leave and not having to worry about work. When will that happen?

Peter is on 3.5mths leave! Can you believe it??? Travelling whole of Southeast Asia and I mean WHOLE. He really covers everything mostly on foot! They call him superman in Slovenia. Hahahaha… he walks real fast. I guess cos his legs are really long?? Hahahaha… 30km in 20mins to him is peanuts! *jaws drop*

He is off to Vietnam, Laos and Indonesia before coming back to Singapore to bug me again. Haha

I want to go back to Slovenia…….. sobssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

I miss:

This fella  I miss most!!! Rok, my bestie for 14yrs now?

I miss our quality time alone when everyone is asleep; just the 2 of us with our favourite Slovenia Beer

I miss the road infront of the Strazar’s; where children use chalks to draw beautiful pictures on the  road as if it was a long piece of paper and play, where Peter and Rok play ball with Lar…

I miss the big green field where we took Lar daily for her walk; the fresh grass smell, the big green surroundings, the walk…

I miss Lar. She passed away last year. She was so beautiful and friendly. She always had her favourite tennis ball inside her mouth even when she sleeps. I played with her everyday when I was there…

I miss the legendary big red couch in the living room! Hahaha… it was always crowded with everyone watching movies, chatting, drinking and laughing. Or should I say, you can always find Mama Strazar there. It’s her favourite spot in the house with her little cosy blanket.

I miss the spontaneous, caring and sweet Mama Strazar and the big look-fierce-but-actually-not-fierce and fantastic cook Papa Strazar.

I miss mountain climbing. The very beautiful scenery and that sense of achievement, wooohooo… Mama Strazar can climb real well and this one is actually ‘chicken feet’ for her. The ones that she, Peter and Rok climbed is what I would call MADDNESS kinda HIGH BIG Mountains.

I miss lying down just nuahing, dreaming while soaking in the sun with sea breeze blowing gently in Croatia. Having such carefree moments just relaxing and enjoying every bit of it.

I miss Venice too. The most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. I would really love to go there again and this time I hope to have Mr D. with me.

Oh ya, I miss my 27yr old face and 27yr old figure metabolism.

my kimchi trip May 15, 2008

Summary of Korea Trip:

- that things in Korea are not cheap at all. $9 for 3 plates of chicken rice here, $9 for one in Korea. Clothing not to my taste, maybe due to limited shopping time too. Love the necklaces though. Rather pricy but very unique.

- that going with tour is never fun and is always rushing from places to places. True and false.

False being; the group of people you encounter for the trip is really important. Luckily for us, we met really good and fun friends.

True; very superbly rush and we barely have time to shop. YET without joining a tour, we wouldn’t be able to venture so many places and see so much of Korea in a short period of time.

- made very very good friends, thanks to Mister Donut. Fate really works in the most amazing ways. We not only get along well, we are all jokers and mad people. The chemistry among us… … FIREWORKS!

- that Ikan Bilis in Korea taste heavenly. It’s REALLY that nice.

- that Kimchi is rated top 5 for being the healthiest food around the globe.

- that having a new nose, chin or any plastic surgery is the new present / gift / reward.

- that Koreans are very supportive of their own Brands; be it food, car, mobiles…

- that they are only eligible to purchase a condo (there are no flats in Korea, only condo and private property) after working 20 years in Korea.

-  that they still favour boys to girls.

p/s: there are MORE. I’ll continue this later when I get home for my Korean Presenter forgotten to turn up for our recording at 7.30pm!!!
